SITKA, ALASKA
3 NIGHTS
SITKA - AUGUST 8-11:
Our time in Sitka places us right in the heart of this historic and breathtaking coastal town. We’ll be staying at the centrally located Southeast Resort, perfectly positioned so we’re steps away from the harbor, local shops, and the vibrant charm that makes Sitka so special.
On August 10th, we’ll head out for an unforgettable kayaking adventure along Sitka’s rugged and dramatic coastline. Whether you’re a first-time paddler or highly experienced, this excursion is designed to meet you where you are. From sea level, we’ll take in the raw beauty of Southeast Alaska — towering forested islands, open ocean views, and the kind of scenery that simply can’t be experienced from land.
-

Southeast Resort Hotel
Overlooking Sitka Harbor and Crescent Bay, our newly renovated hotel is the perfect place to bring the family together. Whether you're here to relax or explore, Sitka has it all: fishing, kayaking, hiking, golf, and stunning scenery everywhere you turn. Step out the front door and you're just minutes from historic sights, unique shops, and great restaurants. Whatever you're into, you'll find something to love in this unforgettable town. We’re glad you’re here. Enjoy your stay at the Sitka Hotel.
The conveniently located downtown location is in the middle of the shopping district and visitor attractions. Non-smoking. The Westmark Sitka also has an on-site restaurant (The Raven Dining Room) and lounge and deck (The Kadataan Lounge), as well as room service available. It’s a 5-minute walk from the native totem poles at Sitka National Historical Park and 0.9 miles from the Alaska Raptor Center.
-

Sea Kayaking - Included Group Activity - August 10th
We call it the Wild Coast because it is, and Sitka is the heart of it. There are no roads to get here, and before air travel, the road was the water. For us, it still is. Come with us and explore the pristine and abundant life found in the unparalleled beauty of this place, where the land, sea, and sky join.
Take in Alaska’s breathtaking scenery and wildlife from the water on an aquatic adventure that includes a thrilling RIB boat ride and 90-minute kayak voyage through pristine Camp Coogan Bay. Join an expert seafaring guide aboard a Seahawk rigid inflatable vessel for a high-speed ride from Crescent Harbor across open waters surrounded by evergreen forest and snow-capped mountains. Once the boat is docked at a floating base camp, your guide will offer paddling techniques and provide all the gear you’ll need — raingear, boots and a life vest. Then hop in a two-person kayak and hit the waters of Camp Coogan Bay, a secluded cove protected from wind and rough sea waters.

National Park & Totem Tour - Self or Ranger Led
Alaska’s oldest National Park isn’t a big one—only 113 acres—but it’s rich with history and there’s plenty to do: hiking trails, ranger-led interpretive walks, carving demonstrations, ethnographic displays, and more. The park’s main attractions are the roughly 20 totem poles and the beautiful coastal rainforest, which you can explore on your own or with park rangers. The Russian Bishop’s House is part of the park as well, but is located closer to downtown

Raptor Center
The Alaska Raptor Center provides medical treatment to around 200 injured birds each year. Although we specialize in raptors, we will aid any wild bird in need. We strive to heal, rehabilitate and release all of our avian patients, however, some are injured too severely to fully recover and survive in the wild. You’ll see our Raptors-in-Residence, including eagles, hawks, falcons and owls, learn about their habitats and how they came to be permanent residents at the Center.
-

Possible Flying Excursion (Weather Permitting)
Embark on a breathtaking flying adventure over the pristine wilderness of Southeast Alaska. This unforgettable journey begins with a smooth takeoff, climbing above the lush Tongass National Forest. Our route will take us toward the region’s iconic glaciers, where the dazzling blue ice stretches endlessly, carving dramatic paths through rugged mountain valleys. Fly low enough to witness massive icebergs calving into the serene fjords below, and marvel at the ancient forces that have shaped this stunning landscape for millennia.
